Portable Micro-GC for Fast, On-site Reformate Measurements
PCI’s Reformate Analysis System is a complete, ready-to-operate analyzer for gas reformate streams. It’s field-portable, moves quickly between sampling points, and performs a 10-species analysis in about 90 seconds. A built-in battery preserves settings while relocating, and the self-contained setup eliminates extra carrier-gas cylinders for simpler operation.
The system quantifies major permanent gases in fuel-reformate and fuel-cell balance-of-plant sampling: H2, N₂, CO, O₂, CH₄, CO₂, C₂H₄, C₂H₆, C₃H₈, and C₃H₆. Sampling can be done at atmospheric or slightly sub-atmospheric pressure, enabling quick checks across processors, cleanup stages, and test stands.
PCI’s fuel processing and cleanup train targets stack-quality reformate, e.g., WGS to ~1% CO in a single stage and PROX to <10 ppm CO with <3% H₂ consumption. The analyzer provides fast, portable verification of these specs during commissioning, troubleshooting, and long-duration tests.
What’s included
The portable kit integrates a customer specified micro-GC, vacuum pump, sample dryer, flow control, and particulate filter, plus mounting and regulators for carrier-gas cylinders (cylinders not included). This packaging lets a single technician move quickly between sampling points without extra loose equipment.
Where It Fits
The analyzer is designed to roam across catalytic reactors, fuel reformer, fuel processors, fuel cell stacks, and R&D test rigs. It complements PCI’s reformers and fuel-cell subsystems (WGS/PROX, sulfur cleanup, oxidizers/burners) and supports programs ranging from man-portable gensets to APU-class and industrial systems, all of which benefit from quick reformate checks during development and integration.
Customer support
- All of PCI’s equipment used for the reformate analysis system consists of customer approved gas chromatograph and additional components under warranty from OEMs.
- Installation support, onsite set-up, technical support and training are also available.
Typical Use Cases
- Fuel-processor bring-up: verify H₂/CO/CO₂ balance and confirm CO is within WGS/PROX targets before stack exposure.
- Stack/BoP tuning: check anode-side composition during transients, turndown, and fuel switches.
- Field troubleshooting & QA: rapid, multi-point sampling without hauling extra carrier-gas cylinders.
